Pokémon GO Mega Evolution Update Brings Super Raids & New Level

Pokémon Go is rolling out a major update from February 28th to March 1st, 2026 as part of the Pokémon Go Tour: Kalos. The update introduces 'Super Mega Raids,' a more challenging raid tier that requires at least seven players to complete. It also adds a new in-game currency called 'Link Charges' that can be used to access both Mega and Super Mega Raids, and a fourth Mega Evolution level dubbed 'Super Max' that unlocks additional benefits.

The details

Super Mega Raids feature raid bosses that periodically enrage and activate shields, reducing damage from standard attacks. Players must coordinate to break these shields, with each player only able to remove one shield at a time. When a shield is broken, a Mega-Evolved Pokémon in a player's party will automatically unleash a powerful attack. Link Charges can be earned through weekly challenges, opening gifts, attending community events, or purchased directly. Reaching the new Super Max Mega Evolution level unlocks improved stats, increased chances of high-level captures, and reduced cooldown periods.
