Jack Levey, a 5-foot-10 junior guard for Palisades High School, has emerged as a three-point shooting star, helping lead the Dolphins to the brink of their first City Section Open Division championship since 1969. Levey has made 103 three-pointers this season, with his ability to knock down shots from deep providing a valuable complement to Palisades' talented trio of Phillip Reed, EJ Popoola, and OJ Popoola.
Why it matters
Palisades' success this season, led by the sharpshooting of Levey, represents a bright spot for City Section basketball, which has seen a dip in overall talent in recent years. Levey's emergence as a fan favorite, with little kids seeking high-fives, also highlights the joy and community spirit that high school sports can foster.
The details
Levey, who says his favorite player is Steph Curry, has developed his three-point shooting through constant practice, both at team practices and in his own backyard. He has shown the ability to get hot, once making 11 of 12 three-pointers in a game against Westchester. Palisades' coaches have given Levey the green light to shoot from anywhere, and opposing teams have had to game-plan specifically to try to limit his open looks.
- Palisades will play Cleveland on Friday, February 28, 2026 at 8 p.m. for the City Section Open Division championship.
- Levey made 103 three-pointers during the 2025-26 season.

“All the attention is on them. I'm always open.”

— Jack Levey

— Jack Levey
“He's one person we game plan for to limit his looks. He's an exceptional three-point shooter and has even improved over last season.”
— Steve Ackerman, University coach
“Steph Curry, that's my GOAT.”
