Chef Imran Ali Mookhi has opened his Michelin Bib Gourmand-recognized Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen in Hawaiian Gardens, California. The new location follows the success of Mookhi's previous restaurant, SHOR Bazzar, and allows him to bring his acclaimed Pakistani and Indian street food to a wider Los Angeles-area audience.

Why it matters

The opening of Khan Saab in Hawaiian Gardens represents the expansion of a Michelin-recognized restaurant brand that specializes in the vibrant street food flavors of the Indian subcontinent. This brings greater culinary diversity and recognition to the local dining scene.

The details

Khan Saab focuses on serving elevated versions of popular Pakistani and Indian street food dishes. New menu items at the Hawaiian Gardens location include the Sloppy Khan, a Sloppy Joe made with Wagyu beef and spiced with a hot "gun-powder dust" condiment, as well as the Smoked Beef Kabob, featuring top sirloin marinated for 12 hours and charcoal-smoked tableside. Like Mookhi's previous restaurant, Khan Saab follows halal traditions and does not serve alcohol, offering a selection of alcohol-free mocktails, craft drinks, and rare mineral waters instead.

  • Khan Saab opened its Hawaiian Gardens location earlier this month (February 2026).
  • Mookhi opened his previous restaurant, SHOR Bazzar, in February 2025.
