A Fulbright scholar and a Grammy-nominated vocalist will perform music celebrating Black artists at the Pasadena Senior Center on Thursday, February 19, at 2 p.m. Marlaina Owens and Ronnie Ohannon, both members of the DC6 Singers Collective, will present a diverse selection of music composed by and made famous through Black artists as part of the center's Black History Month observance.

The details
Owens and Ohannon are members of the DC6 Singers Collective, a Los Angeles-based vocal ensemble with roots in A Cappella, Gospel, Doo Wop, and R&B. The group has collaborated with high-profile artists and performed with prestigious institutions. The ensemble's name was inspired by its debut performance in Washington, D.C. in 2014.

Marlaina Owens
A soprano and Los Angeles native who was a 2022-2023 Fulbright scholar and champions African American classical compositions.
Ronnie Ohannon
A singer, background vocalist, and vocal contractor who has worked with artists including Lady Gaga, U2, and John Legend, and is originally from Philadelphia.
DC6 Singers Collective
A Los Angeles-based vocal ensemble with roots in A Cappella, Gospel, Doo Wop, and R&B, that has collaborated with artists including Lady Gaga, CeCe Winans, John Legend, and Michael Bolton, and has performed with institutions including the LA Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony.
Pasadena Senior Center
A donor-supported nonprofit that opened in 1960 and provides programming for adults 50 and older without local, state, or federal funding.
