The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced partial closures of the 605 Freeway in Pico Rivera this weekend, with southbound lanes being reduced to one or two lanes at different times from Friday night through Monday morning. Several ramps connected to the freeway will also be closed during this period as crews work to demolish old concrete on the roadway.
Why it matters
These closures are part of the ongoing Super 605 Freeway Enhancement Project, which aims to improve the interstate from Long Beach to the San Gabriel Valley. While inconvenient for drivers, the work is necessary to upgrade and maintain the critical transportation corridor.

The southbound 605 Freeway will be reduced to one lane from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday, then to two lanes from 4 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday, and back to one lane from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Several ramps, including the Beverly Boulevard off-ramp and on-ramps, as well as the Rose Hills Road on-ramp, will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.
