Lompoc Parks & Recreation Offers Youth & Teen Confidence Workshops

Workshops focus on building public speaking and presentation skills

Published on Feb. 13, 2026

The Lompoc Parks & Recreation Division is offering two workshops for youth aged 8-17 years to help build confidence in public speaking and self-presentation. The workshops, "Speaking with Confidence" and "Presenting Yourself with Confidence", will be led by special guest Miss California Junior Teen Geneva Walker, a certified life coach.

Why it matters

The workshops aim to help young people develop important life skills like self-confidence, public speaking, and self-presentation that can benefit them in school, future careers, and other areas of life. Building these skills at a young age can set youth up for greater success.

The details

The "Speaking with Confidence" workshop will focus on helping youth learn to confidently introduce themselves and strengthen their interview skills. The "Presenting Yourself with Confidence" workshop will teach participants how to pose and walk with positive energy and confidence. Participants are encouraged to bring a smartphone or camera to the second session. Each 2-hour workshop costs $15 and will be held at the Dick DeWees Community & Senior Center.

  • The "Speaking with Confidence" workshop will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
  • The "Presenting Yourself with Confidence" workshop will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
