Phillips Connect, a smart trailer technology company, has announced several new platform enhancements designed to provide fleets with deeper insights into trailer operations, equipment health, and cargo activity. The updates include JumpStart for quick access to trailer data beyond just location, CargoVision with people detection inside the trailer, and Driver Behavior Insights to monitor how trailers are operated on the road.
Why it matters
These innovations reflect Phillips Connect's strategy to capture a wider range of operational data from trailers and make it more accessible to fleets. By combining sensor data, visual intelligence, and behavioral insights, fleets can gain a deeper understanding of how their trailers are being used, maintained, and operated across their networks - going beyond simple GPS location tracking.
The details
The new JumpStart offering helps fleets quickly start capturing smart trailer insights beyond basic location tracking, with access to data on cargo, brakes, tires, liftgates, and temperature. The CargoVision platform now includes people detection to identify when individuals enter or exit the trailer, helping fleets monitor for unauthorized access, cargo theft, and safety issues. Driver Behavior Insights use trailer sensor data to detect unsafe driving events like harsh braking and aggressive acceleration, providing visibility even when trailers are pulled by third-party tractors.
- The new platform enhancements were introduced at the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition on March 16-18, 2026.
