Matadors look to continue program's upward trajectory in 2026 under new head coach Jeff Hall

California State University, Northridge Beach Volleyball opens the 2026 season on Friday, February 20, hosting Concordia Irvine at the Matador Beach Volleyball Complex. The dual match marks the start of CSUN's 13th season of beach volleyball as well as the Jeff Hall era, as he takes over as head coach in 2026.
Why it matters
CSUN Beach Volleyball is looking to build on a record-setting 2025 season that saw the team reach the semifinals of the Big West Beach Championship. With a core group of returners and a highly-touted recruiting class, the Matadors are poised to make a push towards the top of the Big West standings under new head coach Jeff Hall.
The details
Concordia Irvine, coming off a 26-10 season and a National Runner-Up finish at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championships, will provide a tough opening test for the Matadors. CSUN returns a strong group of 12 players, including standouts Hannah Heflin, Tia Mendiola, and Dylan Hall, who all earned postseason honors in 2025.

Jeff Hall
The new head coach of CSUN Beach Volleyball, taking over the program after most recently coaching at the University of Hawai'i where he built the Beach Bows into a perennial national contender.
Hannah Heflin
A CSUN freshman in 2025 who set a new program record for individual wins and was named Honorable Mention All-Big West and to the All-Freshman Team.
Tia Mendiola
A CSUN senior in 2025 who won 19 matches, including a 16-13 record playing with partner Julia Bazylevych.
Dylan Hall
A CSUN player who, paired with Hannah Heflin, led all CSUN pairs with an 18-7 overall record in 2025.
Jenny Griffith
The sixth-year head coach of the Concordia Irvine beach volleyball program, leading the Golden Eagles to four consecutive 20-win seasons.
