Orange County United Way's United for Financial Security℠ Initiative is offering free tax preparation and electronic filing to low- and moderate-income individuals and families through the OC Free Tax Prep program. Qualifying residents can call 2-1-1 or (888) 600-4357 to book an in-person appointment with an IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) preparer, or file taxes online for free at MyFreeTaxes.com.

In 2025, with the support of 641 volunteers, the OC Free Tax Prep program prepared 13,751 tax returns, resulting in a $26.8 million local impact and $3.4 million saved in tax preparation fees. Households that earned less than $69,000 in 2025, seniors over 50, those with limited English proficiency, veterans, and those with disabilities are eligible for the free services. Taxpayers can file in-person at one of 36 locations or online through MyFreeTaxes.com.
