With Healdsburg Unified School District schools on spring break from March 13-23, most of the high school's sports teams will take a break as well. However, the baseball and track and field teams will continue competing during this time period. The softball team has gotten off to a 3-1 start, while the baseball team is undefeated at 4-0 so far this season.
Why it matters
Healdsburg High's sports teams have had mixed results so far this spring, with the softball and baseball teams performing well, but other programs taking a break. This highlights how the school's athletic calendar is impacted by the district's spring break schedule, with some teams able to maintain momentum while others pause their seasons.
The details
The softball team's only loss came in their first game against Clear Lake, when several key players were still finishing up the basketball season. Since then, sophomore pitcher Mia Halvorsen has led the team to three straight wins. The baseball team has been even more dominant, winning all four of their games so far, including a dramatic 5-1 extra-inning victory over St. Helena and a 19-3 mercy-rule win over Credo.
