The Sonoma Academy boys and girls basketball teams both advanced to the North Coast Section semifinals with playoff wins on Friday night. The boys team, ranked No. 1 in Division 5, rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit to beat No. 9 Middletown 48-42 and reach the semifinals for the first time in program history. The girls team, seeded 10th, pulled off a big upset on the road against No. 2 Albany 51-31 to advance to the semifinals for the second straight year.

The Coyotes will now face No. 4 seed Drew, which beat them 64-61 earlier in the season, in the semifinals. On the girls side, Sonoma Academy led Albany 24-16 at halftime and gradually pulled away for the 51-31 upset victory. Summer Weiner scored a game-high 24 points with five 3-pointers, while Siena Jasper added 13 points and Layla Zekarias chipped in 11. The Coyotes will play at No. 6 seed San Domenico in the semifinals.
