The 13th annual California Tire Dealers Association/1-800EveryRim New Year Luncheon in Commerce, CA, featured the induction of tire industry veteran Scott Highfill into the CTDA Hall of Fame. Highfill was recognized for his 50-year career in the tire industry, which began in 1976 at Kennedy's Firestone in San Diego.
Why it matters
The CTDA luncheon is an important annual event for the California tire industry, bringing together dealers, manufacturers, distributors and other businesses to network, learn from industry experts, and recognize the contributions of long-serving professionals like Scott Highfill.
The details
After starting at Kennedy's Firestone, Highfill went on to work for three different wholesalers in San Diego before opening his own one-man operation selling inner tubes and specialty tires out of his home. In 1991, he merged with Great Western Tire, eventually buying out his partner in 2000 and continuing the wholesaling business until selling it in 2015. Highfill also started a workers' compensation buying group in 1988 and has helped CTDA maintain a presence in the San Diego area.
