The Chico High School girls basketball team cruised to a 57-12 victory over Corning in the opening round of the Northern Section Division III playoffs on Thursday night. The Panthers led 29-4 at halftime and had 12 different players score, led by Kayleigh Solano's 10 points. Chico, the No. 1 seed, will face No. 4 seed Enterprise in the semifinals on Tuesday.

Chico is one of the top teams in the Northern Section and is looking to make a deep playoff run after winning the regular season title. The Panthers have defeated Enterprise twice already this season, but the Hornets will be looking to pull off the upset in the semifinals.

Chico jumped out to a 14-2 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 29-4 by halftime. The Panthers continued to pull away in the second half, outscoring Corning 18-4 in the third quarter to take a 47-8 lead. Solano led Chico with 10 points, while Ellie Harrison added 7. Corrina Stephens had a team-high 8 rebounds and Charlie Bishop recorded 4 steals for the Panthers.
