Disney+ Still Developing Long-Awaited Eragon TV Series

Four years after first announcing plans to adapt the popular Inheritance Cycle book series, Disney+ has assembled a creative team to bring the Eragon story to the small screen. The series will be co-created by author Christopher Paolini and writer Todd Harthan, who will also serve as co-showrunners. They will be joined by executive producer Marc Webb, known for directing The Amazing Spider-Man films.

The Inheritance Cycle follows Eragon, a farm boy who discovers a dragon egg that hatches into a dragon named Saphira. Eragon and Saphira set out to take down the tyrannical king Galbatorix and free the land of Alagaesia. The 2006 Eragon film adaptation was widely panned by critics, leading to the cancellation of any planned sequels. Disney+ is now hoping to right the wrongs of the past with a new TV series adaptation that will hopefully capture the magic of the original books.
