A gay couple who star in a fashion-focused reality TV series have shared video of an unknown man attacking their car in an apparent fit of extreme road rage. Patrik Simpson and Pol' Atteu, co-hosts of the Amazon Prime series 'Gown and Out in Beverly Hills' and the 'Undressed' podcast, say they were driving in Hollywood when the driver of a gray Toyota 4Runner blocked their vehicle and then exited his car to punch and kick their car's driver's side window and door.
Why it matters
The incident highlights the dangers of road rage and the vulnerability that LGBTQ+ individuals can face, even in public spaces. It also raises questions about the man's motivations and whether the attack was potentially a hate crime.
The details
According to the couple, the driver of the Toyota 4Runner drove on the wrong side of the road, pulled in front of their car diagonally, and trapped them at the intersection of Melrose Avenue and Vine Street. The man then exited his vehicle and began violently attacking their car, punching and kicking the driver's side window and door. Simpson, who recorded the interaction, said the man gave them a 'death glare' and they feared he would harm them if he managed to break into the car.
