After starting as a pop-up in 2023, Bevel Coffee will open its first permanent cafe in Altadena on February 28. The new 600-square-foot space features indoor and outdoor seating and will serve specialty coffee drinks, pastries, and more. The cafe is opening across the street from Prime Pizza, where Bevel previously operated a kiosk for three years.
Why it matters
The opening of Bevel Coffee's permanent location is a positive sign for the Altadena community, which was impacted by the devastating Eaton Fire in 2025. The fire destroyed several local businesses, but Bevel was able to rebuild and expand its operations, providing a much-needed community gathering space and coffee shop.
The details
Bevel Coffee owner Kevin Mejia built out the new cafe space over the past few months, which features a light-filled 600-square-foot former photography studio with a front wall made almost entirely of windows. The cafe will serve specialty coffee drinks like cardamom lattes, cappuccinos, Speculoos lattes, and more, using beans sourced mainly from Honduras. Bevel will also offer pastries, croissants, cookies, muffins, and eventually grab-and-go items like sandwiches and breakfast burritos.
