The 152,660-square-foot incubator laboratory and office building expands the MBC BioLabs campus.

Published on Feb. 28, 2026

MBH Architects, an award-winning architecture firm, has announced the completion of the new MBC BioLabs facility at 1030 Brittan Avenue in San Carlos, California. The 152,660-square-foot building is the newest and largest addition to the growing MBC BioLabs campus, providing incubator laboratory and office space for more than 100 emerging life science companies.

Why it matters

The new MBC BioLabs facility is a significant expansion of the established incubator model that has supported the launch of over 500 biotech companies worldwide. By increasing campus capacity and offering move-in-ready labs and flexible workspaces, the project aims to further remove traditional barriers for early-stage life science companies.

The details

Developed in partnership with Dewey Land Co., Inc. and MBC BioLabs, the three-story facility with basement opened in April 2025. MBH Architects served as the Design Architect and Architect of Record, aligning the new building architecturally with the adjacent 930 Brittan structure while introducing a more refined material palette. The project features a strong presence along Brittan Avenue, with custom GFRC cladding, expansive glazing, and a 45-foot-high open-air entry stair. At the core of the building, the second floor functions as a social and intellectual commons, supporting gathering and exchange among resident companies. Across all three floors, the fully equipped laboratory suites are designed for flexibility, allowing teams to transition easily between experimentation and focused work.
