No. 6 Pima softball sweeps Chandler-Gilbert, improves to 16-1

The Pima Community College softball team, ranked No. 6 nationally, improved to 16-1 overall and 11-1 in the ACCAC after sweeping a doubleheader against Chandler-Gilbert on Saturday. Sophomore pitcher Belen Camacho tossed a complete-game shutout in the 8-0 win, while fellow sophomore Saraiah Ferrentino also threw a shutout in the 2-0 victory.

Pima's strong start to the season has them positioned well in the ACCAC conference race. The Aztecs have now swept five doubleheaders this year, showcasing their depth and balance as a team.

In the 8-0 win, Cienega grad Isabel Mendoza had a two-run single, while Julissa Lopez and Aaliyah Pereda also drove in runs for Pima. Camacho struck out 10 batters in the complete-game shutout. In the 2-0 victory, Jiselle Nunez had an RBI single and Isabel Rodriguez added an RBI single as well, while Ferrentino tossed a seven-hit shutout.
