A large-scale development near Mesa Gateway Airport reached a milestone as Marriott broke ground on a five-story, 127-suite SpringHill Suites hotel on Thursday. The new hotel will cater to flight passengers, visitors to the nearby Arizona Athletic Grounds sports complex, and future business tenants of the Gateway East development.

Why it matters

The new Marriott hotel is part of the broader Gateway East development, which aims to transform the area around Mesa Gateway Airport into a vibrant business and commerce hub. The high-quality hospitality offering is expected to meet the growing demand from the surrounding community and support the airport's vision of becoming a globally competitive business park.

The details

The SpringHill Suites by Marriott location will feature a lobby bar, outdoor pool, fitness center, complimentary hot breakfast, and free Wi-Fi for guests. It is the seventh such Marriott location in the Valley. The hotel's groundbreaking comes after data center cooling manufacturer XNRGY became fully operational at Gateway East in late October. Construction will soon begin on roughly 17,000 square feet of retail and restaurant businesses within the 270-acre Gateway East development.
