Dublin-based EirTrade Aviation has acquired two young Airbus A320neo aircraft, MSN 10769 and MSN 10921, which are 4 and 3.5 years old respectively, in partnership with Chicago-based lessor RESIDCO. The aircraft, previously operated by Spirit Airlines, will be dismantled in Goodyear, Arizona, with components transferred to EirTrade's parts hub in Dallas to support aircraft-on-ground (AOG) requirements across the Americas and strengthen the company's global A320neo inventory.
Why it matters
The acquisition of relatively young A320neo aircraft for teardown reflects the growing industry trend toward dismantling in-demand narrowbody platforms to meet rising global demand for high-quality used serviceable material (USM). With over 4,400 A320neos in commercial service and an additional 7,200 on order, the platform will remain the largest segment of the global commercial fleet, driving continued demand for USM.
The details
EirTrade and RESIDCO's transaction includes the acquisition of four sets of high-demand LRU and buyer-furnished equipment (BFE) components from the Pratt & Whitney PW1100 engine type. The teardown process is already underway, and all components will undergo repair and certification before being released to the market by the end of the first quarter for sale, exchange, and AOG support.
