Baxter County Early Literacy Project Hosts Children's Book Drive

Community invited to donate new or gently used books to stock Little Free Libraries

Mar. 16, 2026 at 3:10pm

The Baxter County Early Literacy Project is holding a 'Donate to the Book Crate!' drive to collect children's books for their 13 Little Free Libraries located throughout the county. Organizers are asking for donations of board books, picture books, and small chapter books, which can be dropped off at the Donald W. Reynolds Library in Mountain Home.

Why it matters

The book drive helps promote early literacy and a love of reading among young children in the Baxter County community by ensuring the Little Free Libraries are well-stocked with age-appropriate books for kids to access.

The details

The donated books will be used to stock the 13 Little Free Libraries managed by the Baxter County Early Literacy Project. These libraries allow children and families to take a book or leave one to share. The program works to place books in the hands of children, encourage families to read aloud together, and increase awareness of Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards.
