A 45-year-old man named Ian Michael Tice appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court on Monday and pled not guilty to charges of negligent homicide, driving while intoxicated, having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, driving left of center, and obstructing governmental operation. The charges stem from a November 10 accident that killed 19-year-old Adrianna Alsup.
Why it matters
This case highlights ongoing concerns about repeat offenders and the challenges of addressing drunk driving and traffic fatalities, especially in rural areas. Tice had two previous felony arrests in Baxter County, and a petition to revoke his probation was filed just before the fatal accident.

Tice initially told officers he had not been driving the vehicle and the driver had fled the scene. He is currently an inmate in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $50,000.
