What they’re saying

“I'm proud of the player he became, but even more proud of the man he was becoming. This is an (honor) I wish I did not have to have, because I would have given anything to see Alex walk across the stage and accept this honor himself.”

— Andrea McDonald, Mother of Alex Collins

“To be able to go in as an active coach is incredible. There are a lot of people who were big influences in my life. I knew I wanted to be a coach in the eighth grade. ... I'm honored, I'm humbled by this experience. It's an honor to represent the schools that I've coached at and the kids I've coached for.”

— Jerry "Buck" James, Head Football Coach, Conway High School

“Basketball took me places I only dreamed about. Playing for Coach Leon Barmore at Louisiana Tech and being in the ESPN top 10 (recruiting rankings). Making a Sweet 16 and building lifelong friendships, but the greatest thing basketball gave me was perspective.”

— Erica Leak, Head Women's Basketball Coach, Arkansas-Pine Bluff
