The Flippin Fire Department was dispatched at 11:43 a.m. to a reported structure fire. Flippin Public Works Director J.L. Wagoner, who was driving by, noticed the fire and broke a window to help remove one occupant before firefighters arrived. Firefighters arrived on the scene within three minutes and were able to rescue a second occupant, contain the fire, and prevent it from spreading further. Several pets died in the fire, but firefighters were able to rescue a mother cat and her kittens, as well as two additional cats.
