Two men, Richard Henry and Doug Parrish, have qualified to run for the vacant District 3 seat on the Tuscaloosa City Council. The special election will take place on April 14, 2026, with early voting beginning on February 24.
Why it matters
The District 3 seat on the Tuscaloosa City Council was left vacant when the previous council member, Norman Crow, was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives. This special election will determine who will fill the remainder of Crow's term, which has over three years left.
The details
The District 3 seat covers almost all of the city's land north of the Black Warrior River, excluding the Tuscaloosa National Airport and surrounding land. Since there are only two candidates, there will be no runoff election. District 3 residents who will not be in town for the April 14 election can cast absentee ballots starting on February 24.
