The Winterboro High School girls basketball team won their first-ever state championship, defeating Marion County 63-56 in the AHSAA Class 1A final. Winterboro was led by Katelyn Brown's 17 points and 5 rebounds, while Kaleria Massingale added 13 points, 7 steals, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. The Bulldogs took a 5-point lead into halftime and pulled away late, making all 4 of their field goals and going 7-for-12 from the free throw line in the final quarter.

Winterboro and Marion County were tied with 5 minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs went on a 7-0 run to take the lead for good. Winterboro struggled shooting in the first half, going 12-of-42 from the floor, but used 13 offensive rebounds and 18 second chance points to build their halftime advantage. Marion County was led by 17 points from Lily Robinson and 21 rebounds from Jadin McCollum, while Jolie Kate Cox had 15 points and 10 boards.
