Myles Rowe, an INDY NXT by Firestone veteran, led the only practice session for the Grand Prix of Alabama doubleheader on Friday at Barber Motorsports Park. Rowe turned a top lap of 1 minute, 12.0345 seconds in the No. 99 ABEL Motorsports with Force Indy car, just seven one-hundredths of a second faster than JM Correa in second place.
Why it matters
Rowe entered the season as a championship favorite in INDY NXT after finishing fourth in the standings in 2025, but has struggled in the first two races this year. This practice session result gives Rowe and his team momentum heading into the doubleheader weekend, where double points are on the line.
The details
Rowe's top lap was just seven one-hundredths of a second faster than JM Correa in the No. 68 Cusick Morgan Motorsports car. Josh Pierson was third, followed by rookie Enzo Fittipaldi and returning driver Lochie Hughes. Andretti Global drivers took three of the top six spots, including series leader Max Taylor in sixth.
- The practice session took place on Friday, March 27, 2026.
- Qualifying is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 28.
- Race 1 is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 28.

JM Correa
The driver of the No. 68 Cusick Morgan Motorsports car, who finished second in practice just seven one-hundredths of a second behind Rowe.
Josh Pierson

What they’re saying
“Happy with P1, no doubt, especially with a couple of performances we weren't happy with in Round 1 and Round 2. Coming into our first doubleheader weekend, it definitely makes it easier on the team knowing we have pace coming into qualifying in a weekend where we have double points (two races).”
— Myles Rowe, INDY NXT Driver
What’s next
Qualifying for the doubleheader weekend is up next at 10 a.m. ET Saturday, with the first 35-lap race scheduled for 1 p.m. ET that same day. The second 30-lap race will take place at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday.
The takeaway
Rowe's strong practice performance gives him and his team momentum heading into the INDY NXT doubleheader weekend at Barber Motorsports Park, where double points are on the line. After struggling in the first two races of the season, Rowe will look to capitalize on his pace and challenge for the win in both races.
