Auburn women's basketball redshirt freshman Arek Angui, a 6-foot-9 center, has announced her plans to enter the transfer portal. Angui only saw limited playing time this past season, averaging 1.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 10 blocks in 20 games. She is the second Auburn player to enter the portal after one year, joining Harissoum Coulibaly.
Why it matters
Angui's departure is another blow to first-year Auburn head coach Larry Vickers, who is trying to rebuild the program. The loss of two young players to the transfer portal raises questions about the team's roster stability and development under the new coaching staff.
The details
Angui transferred to Auburn last year after appearing in just three games for the University of Central Florida in the 2024-25 season. As a redshirt freshman, she only took 34 total shots for the Tigers this past season. Angui will have three years of eligibility remaining as she looks to continue her collegiate career elsewhere.
