Cate Le Bon with Frances Chang

Cate Le Bon's seventh record Michelangelo Dying, a product of all-consuming heartache, is a wonderfully iridescent attempt to photograph a wound before it closes up. Stalking its maker between Hydra, Cardiff, London and Los Angeles, the album is centered on the many states of existence within love and its aftermath, with Le Bon surrendering to the abstraction of intense feeling and the grieving of a fantasy. Joined by special guest Frances Chang, this performance promises a deeply textural and emotionally evocative musical journey.
Why We Like It
- Cate Le Bon's rich, deeply textural arrangements built up in layers when she didn't have the words, and didn't want to find them.
- The album features a continuation and expansion of Le Bon's unique sound, with flashes of the artistic singularities of David Bowie, Nico, John McGeoch and Laurie Anderson.
- Special guest John Cale makes a poignant appearance on the mournful 'Ride', where he simply sings, unprompted, 'It's my last ride.'
Who Should Attend
This event will appeal to fans of Cate Le Bon's introspective and emotionally-charged indie rock, as well as those interested in the creative process behind deeply personal and abstract art.
