National Receptionists Day – May 10

National Receptionists Day is the day we recognize all of the things that receptionists bring to our organizations. It is dedicated to showing them our appreciation for their professional services, charisma, and contribution to the company's culture. Join us on the second Wednesday in May, as we show them how much they mean to us.

Why We Love National Receptionists Day

A. Keep the trains running on time
Receptionists are known to be the back bones of every company because all that they do, even if those things go unnoticed. From managing schedules, to making sure paper never runs out of the copy machine, receptionists keep everything running efficiently.

B. Jack of all trades
As mentioned above, receptionists play a major role in the office by providing assistance to the entire staff. It is their job to make sure everything is in order by being a Jack of All Trades. They must wear multiple hats like; Office Manager, Assistant, Motivational Speaker or Coffee Barista if necessary. Without their presence most of us would be in a rut.

C. Resourceful
It’s not what you know, it is who you know! Receptionists do an amazing job of managing relationships with outside vendors by dealing with them on a regular basis. They are able to find the best price in town by using their resources for things like office supplies, snacks, and more.

How to Celebrate National Receptionists Day

1. Show appreciation
Something so small can mean the biggest thing to the people around you, especially the ones you work closely with. Take today to appreciate all that the receptionists do in their position. A hand written card that references a specific moment where they shined in their position, or a gift card to his/her favorite place will be more than enough to show them you care.

2. Give an award
Oscars, Tonys, Grammys, oh my! Nothing beats being awarded for being at the top of your game. This National Receptionists Day, award your colleague with a special award that reflects his or her performance. Something like, “The Chuck Norris of Receptionists Award” should do the trick.

3. Offer an extra paid day off
Depending on how busy your company is at the time, give your receptionist a paid day off. It will give them a chance to recharge the batteries as they say and come back refreshed, ready to kick some butt.
