Raksha Bandhan 2018 – August 26

Full-moon day of the month of Shravana

Raksha Bandhan—or Rakhi—is an Indian rite, in which sisters tie a ceremonial thread or amulet (the Rakhi) around their brothers’ wrists, as a form of protection. The holiday falls on the last day of the Hindu calendar, which usually falls in the Gregorian month of August.
