World Lung Cancer Day

World Lung Cancer Day is observed on August 1 each year. In a move to beat back occurrences of lung cancer, people around the world observe this very special day. The mission for this day is simple — raise as much awareness of lung cancer as you can, while encouraging people to screen themselves for this disease. As for why this day is so important… according to the World Health Organization, this cancer is so prevalent in the world that yearly, more people die from lung cancer than from colon, breast, and liver cancers combined. We’re not sure who the organizers of this day are, but we are certain they aimed to encourage everyone towards better outcomes and recovery from this disease.

Homemade Pie Day

Homemade Pie Day is held every year on August 1. It’s a day to celebrate pie, a dish that has existed since the era of the ancient Egyptians. Pies have featured in one form or another in several cultures around the world, from the ancient Greeks to the Romans to the British and eventually, the Americans. Today, pie has become a symbol of American life. It can be eaten as a meal, as a dessert, or as a snack.

Shredded Wheat Day

Shredded Wheat Day is marked every July 31 and we intend to get the best out of it by having a healthy breakfast cereal. Shredded wheat is one of the oldest cereals in the world. It’s made from whole wheat and baked into pillow-shaped biscuits. Some manufacturers have developed different varieties of shredded wheat that include blueberry, raspberry, cherry, and cranberry flavors. Did you know that shredded wheat is rich in vitamins and contains a high amount of fiber that helps to prevent heart diseases and type-2 diabetes?
