Why We Love SZA
Many artists write their songs after they have been well-thought-out or allow someone else to write for them, but SZA writes her own music. What makes her unique in this regard is that she is one of very few artists who write their songs by freestyling, mainly because she believes this way she produces music that comes from the heart.
She's a survivor
SZA was bullied for her religion and unlike many who would've fallen out of their belief, she still believes in the god that she serves. She might have taken off her hijab (which is expected because she was just a child) but her faith is still standing today and she embraces it.
She supports social causes
SZA has partnered with American Forests, a non-profit organization, to establish T.A.Z.O. Tree Corps, which aims to fight for climate justice in affected areas. Her fight for climate justice in black and brown communities ensures that they will all benefit from a sustainable and encouraging future, also providing job opportunities which is a big issue in these communities.
