September Holidays

month banner

Ah, September, everyone's favorite seventh month of the year. Wait, what? Before January and February were added to the calendar we know today, March was the beginning of the year—and September was named after "septem," the Latin prefix for "seven!" Fortunately for you, there are many more than seven holidays in September, and we have them all on our September calendar.

Pen at the ready? Mark down these national days in September:

FOOD AND DRINK: There are holidays in September for all the essentials: namely National Coffee Day (September 29) and National Cheese Pizza Day (September 5). There's also a September holiday for National Pepperoni Pizza Day (September 20), if you want to get crazy. Did you know people have been drinking coffee since the 10th century? Now that's a reason to celebrate.

CAUSES: One of the most important holidays in September is International Day of Peace (September 21). Created by the United Nations, it's devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace around the globe. How will you be giving peace a chance this month?

RELATIONSHIPS: When deciding which September holidays to celebrate, don't skip National Grandparents Day (September 10)! Did you know that 82% of grandparents have changed their grandchildren's diapers? Give them the credit they deserve this month.

ACTIVITIES: Do you listen to podcasts, or are you more of a video game person? On our September calendar, there are national days for both—International Podcast Day is September 30, and National Video Games Day is on the 12th! Recent studies have shown that people who play video games are happier—and of course we love when you're happy.

Find a complete list of September holidays below, and happy celebrating!
