National Student-Athlete Day – April 6

We have a question for you: do you love memes? Memes like this? “dentist: you need to stop grinding your teeth student athlete: Stop Grinding?😂 The Grind Never Stops💯 No Breaks😈 We Stay Dream Chasing💪” Get ready to share these student athlete memes all over the internet this April 6, because it’s National Student Athlete Day! Started by the National Consortium for Athletics and Sports, this day celebrates the student athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. Get yourself an athlete that can do both—and then give them a huge … hug? High-five? Whatever athletes do to celebrate. Basically, what we’re trying to say is go show the student athletes in your life some love. Even though we make fun of them with memes sometimes, they really do never stop grinding.

National Burrito Day – April 6

Would you rather change genders every time you sneezed, or not be able to tell the difference between a baby and a burrito? That’s only one of the questions we ask ourselves on April 6, along with “do burritos have rice or no rice?” and “do we want black or pinto beans?” or even “should I pay the extra money for guac?” Yes, friends, that’s right, it’s our favorite day of the year today: National Burrito Day! So celebrate with us by grabbing two burritos and double-fisting (or, if you’re not champions like us, you can just eat one. We understand).

World Health Day – April 7

National Beer Day – April 7

On April 7, 1933, President Roosevelt took the major first step toward ending Prohibition and signed a law allowing people to brew and distribute beer in the United States. So why not celebrate this historic moment on National Beer Day on April 7? Upon signing the legislation, FDR famously stated, "I think this would be a good time for a beer.” For the first time in thirteen years, beer drinkers celebrated and were happy to be able to purchase beer again. On that same day, 1.5 million barrels of beer were consumed, inspiring the holiday celebrated today. For all you beer lovers out there – remember, always drink responsibly and never drink and drive.

National Winston Churchill Day – April 9

Winston Churchill Day is celebrated on April 9 because on this day in 1963 President John Fitzgerald Kennedy signed a bill into law making Winston Churchill — the soldier, author, and indefatigable British Prime Minister — an honorary citizen of the United States. It wasn’t his birthday, or even the day of his death (he was still very much alive) but the day did have military significance for us all. Sir Winston Churchill, who was knighted by the Queen for his wartime service to England, is credited with unifying the British people to resist the intensive bombing of Britain by Germany during World War II. It was on April 9 in 1940 that Germany eluded the British blockade and invaded Norway. Some would say that was the real start of World War II. But that isn’t the reason we celebrate it on April 9. No, we celebrate Winston Churchill Day then because that is when the slow workings of the US Congress finally got around to presenting the bill to the President to be signed. Some things never change. To commemorate Winston Churchill Day on April 9 we have great facts and pithy quotes to help you “keep calm and carry on.”
